Augure premiered at Filmfestival Cannes
Augure (English: OMEN) is an ensemble film about four people accused of being witches and sorcerers. Despite their misfortune they find the way to guide each other away from their socially imposed destinies and into the phantasmagoria of Africa.

Klankmakers podcast
Klankmakers reisde af naar Den Haag en maakte een prachtige podcast over mijn werkzaamheden, liefde voor het vak en een kijkje achter het geluid. Te beluisteren via diverse podcast platforms.
Danny is re-recording mixer en sound supervisor en heeft gewerkt aan de Disney+ serie ‘Dat Ene Woord’, de film the Lobster en zeer recent een 11 delige Netflix documentaire serie Voices of liberation. We praten over mixage, de natuurdocumentaire Silence of the Tides (nominatie Gouden Kalf sound design 2021), workflows, sound design en Dolby Atmos.

Streamingservice Netflix heeft in de 11-delige historische docuserie ‘Voices of Liberation’ kosten noch moeite gespaard om het einde van de Tweede Wereldoorlog in beeld te brengen. Het verhaal van Europa’s bevrijding wordt verteld met behulp van teksten, ooggetuigenverslagen en archiefmateriaal.

Dolby Atmos is here!
Recently my studio has been upgraded to Dolby Atmos 7.1.4. The Genelec sound system welcomed 4 new brothers and sisters.
With Dolby Atmos sound can be placed in a 3D space. Dolby Atmos can be heard in cinemas, on personal devices such as phones and tablets and on the latest smart televisions. Content providers such as Netflix and Apple TV have movies and series in their catalog with this sound format.
My goal is to promote this amazing format and bring it to your home or cinema near you. Recently the movie “Silence of the tides” has been released in Dolby Atmos and many are to come. Join this 3D immersive experience and make your movie Dolby Atmos. Contact me about the possibilities.
“DVS – Navigation” SoundFlow package
With SoundFlow it is possible to automate your Pro Tools workflow. It can speed up repetitive tasks. One of them, which I often use, is jumping around your session. Copy/pasting clips from one location to another. For that reason I made a Navigation package that helps storing the selected track and selection. Either or both can be recalled when needed. This package is now available from the SoundFlow app store for free. Go to the SoundFlow app store and search for “dvs”.
A SoundFlow account is needed to install the package. Trial version of SoundFlow is available.
Studio update for 7.1 and Dolby Atmos premix productions
Recently my studio in The Hague has been updated to mix 7.1 soundtracks. With this update soundtracks for Dolby 7.1 and Dolby Atmos premix can be produced. Both for television, streaming platforms and cinema.

In het radioprogramma “Debby en haar mannen” praat ik over geluid bij films. Over mijn werk en hoe lang je erover doet om het geluid van een film te mixen.

“Sync” takes you behind the curtain of the mysterious world of foreign language dubbing. Joop van den Beucken and Bob van der Houven, both voice actors themselves, spoke to fellow voice actors, directors, translators, studio owners and an audio technician (me) to reveal this crazy world of voice acting.
“Sync” will be shown at the Klik! Amsterdam Animation Festival on October 30th.

New Audio Plugins in My Mix Setup.
Nugen Halo Upmix: Unwraps stereo tracks into a great 5.1 or 7.1 surround field. It not only works great on music, atmospheres are now more evenly spread into the speakers.
McDSP FutzBox: Excellent tool to create toys, telephones or Walkie-Talkies.
iZotope RX Plugin Pack: Great dialogue repair kit. Clicks, distortions, hum and noises can be easily brought to a minimum with these plugs.

Gouden Kalf voor De Nieuwe Wildernis
De Nieuwe Wildernis heeft op het Nederlands Filmfestival een Gouden Kalf gewonnen voor de Beste Publieksfilm van 2014. Voor deze film heb ik de geluidsmixage voor de bioscoop gedaan.
